[BHV] 5 lakes?

I wasn't calling for Auntie Em I was signing in the rain. Hamondsport
mmm wasn't that where I saw Paul eating a hot dog and that was the last
I saw of him all day. Somehow he made it to the bar before the rest of
us. Was it me or was Paul a little vague on his mileage for the day. :)

I counted 18 people doing the century. We caught the two, Andy and
Misty doing the 50. I think about 13 of us finished the century. I was
in the group with Terrie Barnic, Steve Burlingame, Cliff Thomas, Mike
Timogeeff, Bob Stocks, Steve Burdett, Tony from FLCC, and a guy from
Corning in a Horseheads rotary jersey whose name I forgot sorry. We
wrung our socks out in Hammondsport and enjoyed nice weather after some
cold, hard, stinging, I can't see, why am I doing this ride, rain. Steve
Burdett suggested we had rode through enough water to count as another
lake.

Random Observations: Jeremy Wickham road a wheelie up the hill out of
Watkins. Mark Sheehans handelbars in a guy with a white jersies
spokes. He did not look happy. Ruth from FLCC roade with us to
Lamoka. Bob Stocks rode the wrong side of Keuka and still caught us in
Branchport. Animal!

Mark Sheehan passed us in Hammondsport and we didn't catch Mark until
the deli across from Glenora. That was Mark's first stop of the day and
he definetly looked a little ashen.

The ride across Ridge road was done in echelon formation to protect us
from the gusting crosswind. We even had an echelon pace line going for
a time, felt just like I was in the Tour. I stopped for a nature break,
at Terrie's urging my peloton attacked and tried to drop me. Guess I
was powering up the hills a little too fast.

Back at the parking lot we cleaned up and had some beer, chips, cheese
and apples. Wasn't the same without Bill going for a swim. Always next
year.

The food was very good at the Rooster and the Black walnut does rock.
The owner said this batch was the best he had ever made and some it was
going to a beer competition. A great ride. And we will do it again next
year. Still time for a couple of nice rides in October. I haven't done
the Brick this year. Weekend of October 7th and 21st are good for me.

Ride strong

Bobby
