This looks interesting, and its a subject that tends to fall by the
wayside, never mind that it should be the foundation of our fitness
training.
Unless BHV Polar Bear cycling plans interfere, Lula and I may make
the trip to Ithaca for this one.

Subject: FLCC> Sunday cycling seminar
This week is the third seminar (of four) in the Spring Cycling
Series. The topic is "Training and Physiology". Whether you design your
own training program or whether someone else is your guide, you
really need
to know what is going on to be able to be effective. If you want to know
how to train for peak performance, whether as a racer or as a fitness
rider, it helps to understand how the body works and how training brings
about changes in your body. I've seen high-priced coaches "burn out"
aspiring racers because they didn't understand and communicate basic
information and principles. A smart rider can get the most out of a
coach
if they know more about what the coach is trying to guide and inspire
them
to do. We will cover nutrition, hydration, supplements, and drugs
(legal
and otherwise) in addition to micro and macro physiology. This
information
is obviously of relevance to all athletes; not just bike racers.
As always, the seminar will take place in 128 Olin Hall (Chemical
Engineering) at Cornell Sunday morning from 10:00AM-12:00noon. Seminars
are free and open to anyone interested. Pass the word to friends who
might
be interested. All are welcome.
