As an aging yet very actve athlete I want to offer this..sit ups are
one of the most worthless, time wasting exercises that you can do. They
place so much strain on the lower back, thighs and hips without placing
an emphasis on what you are trying to accomlish..building strength in
the abs. Crunches, leg raises, especially hanging leg raises from a
pullup bar and doing knee ups from a pull up bar allow you to
concentrate the movements on the abs without straining the lower back...
consult any body building info that you can find and I am sure you will
find the same .. I have been an avid weight lifter and endurance
athlete for the past 30+ years..including long distance running and
cycling..check out ab originals..a device that allows you to hang from
a bar supported by your arms that allow you to utilize you effort
without taxing your grip and arm strength..they work !! Just offering
my 2 cents !! Dave
