Quite a few years ago, on a rainy winter weekend, we took the kids to  
the Discovery Center in Binghamton, and it was well worth the trip.   
Now it may be even more worth the trip.  --Bill L

Join us, as we celebrate the grand opening of Pedal Power, the  
Discovery Center’s newest hands-on exhibit, on Saturday, August 9th.   
Get into gear with us at Pedal Power, with cycling activities and  
good old fashioned hot dogs, cotton candy and popcorn!

Pedal Power takes you through the history of the bicycle, from the  
earliest Victorian-era velocipede through modern, light weight, multi- 
faceted bicycles.  Hop onto our Energy Cycle and see how much current  
you can generate with your leg power! Tour the Wright Brothers Cycle  
Shop and thrill to the Finish Line of the mountain stage of a road  
race. See antique bicycles on display, beginning with the high  
wheeler and evolving through the decades of the twentieth century  
into today’s racing, mountain and BMX bicycles. Explore our many  
bicycling artifacts, including authentic race jerseys from the Giro  
d'Italia (Tour of Italy), and the United States Postal Service’s Tour  
de France race team.

Bring your bicycle (and your helmet) to the Discovery Center on  
Saturday August 9th at 11 AM for bike decorating. At 12:30 PM, join  
the parade led by the Hall Family on their high wheeled bicycles!   
Special activities and demonstrations will take place from 11:00AM to  
3:00PM.
