Brenda's got it right. One way you can lower the initial misery is
to stretch the warm up to about 10 minutes of just pushing until it's
not fun, then backing off, and repeating the process. It's easier to
do this on the bike than when running. To stop pushing the run until
it's not fun, I have to walk; but on the bike you just back off a
notch or two and you're still biking.

Tom,
It's just your muscles warming up, is all. Only 2 miles??? Sheesh,
it usually takes me about 10! :)

Subject: [BHV] question....
I'm no expert on how muscles work the hows and why's. Could someone
please tell me why that the first 2 miles of my rides ( all rides) my
legs will burn to the point of unbearable. No matter how much I warm
up and stretch. But after the 2 miles, I'm able to ride endlessly
without effort hills or flat, in the wind it doesn't matter. PLease
help me with this "burning" question
thanz
