[BHV] bike awareness calendar change

Might be a little ignorant....... but is the bike awareness week/month a nationally recognized thing?  Or is it our local setup?

I think the point Tim makes is a good one, and as long as bike  
awareness week is stuck in May, it's like going into the ring with  
one hand tied behind your back as far as getting good participation  
in rides and events.

One might consider September rather than June for the bike to school  
portion.  It gets the students in the frame of mind with a couple  
good biking months to look forward.  Weather in May here is very  
iffy, even to the point of dealing with snow and ice, and a bike ride  
to school ending with dripping clothes and shivers is just how to  
point out the downsides of using a bike and the upsides of riding the  
bus.
