Hello BHV-ers,

When RBA Tom Rosenbauer suggested I try a 300K after a 400km flèche
(360km plus a 40km extension tacked on to it) as preparation for the
upcoming Shenandoah 1200K, I thought it was a good idea. There was some
concern about riding 300km solo after a 400km ride, so Rick Carpenter
volunteered to do the whole thing with me. For the first 400km we had
the great company of Bill Fischer, your president.

All I can say is that it was tough. 700km with many many many hills. I
am happy I made it and even more happy I am still in one piece. The legs
need a couple of days of absolute rest, but otherwise I only have good
things to say about this ride. It certainly helps build the confidence
towards completing a 1200K.
