FLCC> Ellis Hollow Road improvement

I know that many of you are curious about the Ellis
Hollow Road improvement plan.  I just got back from
the meeting.  Though contentious on the width of the
road and addition of bike lanes, they projected a
completion date of August, 2007.  This is phase 1
which goes from Turkey Hill to  Thomas road.  Phase 2
will improve Ellis Hollow from Game Farm to Turkey
Hill.  The most likely plan will include 10 foot
automobile lanes and 5 foot, color coded bike lanes. 
Suggestions to include prime markers and water refill
stations were roundly opposed.  FLCC did come up and
was not proceded by expletives.  It was suggested that
FLCC riders won't use bike lanes if they're there.  I
said we would use them, but don't care if they're
there.  Many older drivers wanted bike lanes so that
they wouldn't have to wait for bikers to get out of
the way before passing.  Nobody complained about
Tuesday night bike traffic.  I see that as a good
thing.  Wayne
