Dan Barbasch and Ruth Sherman may be interested to see what those
hills look like on an elevation graph.

Ominous skies and drizzle convinced us to truncate the originally
planned Naples grape pie century by cutting along the west side of
Keuka north to Guyanoga (the flat stretch in the middle). The full
century would substitute about miles and at least three more good
sized climbs from Hammondsport to Naples and back to Guyanoga for
that flat stretch. With luck we'll get a decent weekend before the
end of the grape season and give it another go.

This half century version was quite pretty, though fairly
challenging, and might be considered as a "round Keuka" flcc Sunday
tour. If done before Memorial Day or after Labor Day NY 54A along
the west side of the lake is quite pleasant. Weekend traffic during
the high season can be a problem and the high road on the west side
through Pulteney might be preferable. (A big climb, but beautiful
views of the lake from up high).

Cues available to the flcc routemeister on request.

This route has lots of diners on route: The Classic Café at the
start and finish in Dundee; the Oasis in Hammondsport, the Branchport
Diner; and Angel's Family Restaurant in Penn Yan.
