VO2 Max & Lactate Threshold Testing
Are you rested? Time to start thinking about training for next year and
Syracuse Bicycle is here to help. Doug Bush from Endurance Factor will be
conducting VO2 Max and Lactate Threshold testing at the store on November
18th. Doug is a very accomplished coach and athlete from the Buffalo area.
His resume includes everything from qualifying for the World Triathlon
Championships to articles covering training, racing, nutrition, and
physiological testing published in nationally distributed endurance sports
magazines such as Velo News and Inside Triathlon. Please check our webpage
HYPERLINK "http://www.syracusebicycle.com/"www.syracusebicycle.com in the
coming days for details on Doug, his articles, his testing and examples of
the testing reports. I should have it posted by the end of the week. I
should have a lot of stuff done by the end of the week but I probably wont.
SEE THE FLYER BELOW FOR MORE INFO
In the coming weeks we will also be offering a series of repair classes
instructed by Brian Kiggins, additional testing and racing/training seminars
with Todd Scheske and In-store training/spin sessions on a weekly basis.
Again, I will have these events posted on our website very soon. So, please
check the site or email HYPERLINK

information.

Determine Your Exact Training Zones
Are you training with all the facts?
Until recently VO2 testing was only available for elite athletes or through
University performance labs. It is now available for all athletes!
Take the guesswork out of your training by accurately determining your
correct training intensity. When using a heart rate monitor it is crucial
to establish training zones based around your lactate threshold (LT) rather
than using maximum heart rate equations. Sports Science research has shown
that using lactate threshold to establish training zones is the most precise
way to establish training zones.
Benefits of Testing.
Ø Establish exact training zones for maximum performance and proper
weight loss.
Ø Determine endurance sports genetic potential based on VO2 Max.
Ø Identify possible weaknesses in metabolic energy systems.
Ø Determine fitness level.
How are VO2 Max and Lactate threshold tests performed?
You can either run a treadmill or use a bicycle ergometer on a set protocol,
which increases in speed and gradient. This process usually lasts around 10
- 15 minutes depending on the individual. The athlete wears a mask with
sensors attached to a metabolic analyzer so that respiratory gases can be
measured (Oxygen uptake, Carbon Dioxide production, and total volume).
For multisport athletes it is highly recommended to test both the bike and
run as heart rate training zones are different for each sport. Usually
running heart rates are slightly higher, but this is not always the case.
Interested???
Do not waste any time - Reserve your spot now, as space is limited and
interest seems to be high. Cost of the testing is $120 for a single test on
either your bicycle or a treadmill. $195 will get you tested on both the
bike and the tread. To reserve you spot or request more information about
Doug or the testing, please direct all inquiries to HYPERLINK

all reservations and payments.
