In last night's C-action, Jason won the Pink Sneaker with Anna Barensfeld
and Blue Jersey (sorry, I forgot your name) in close pursuit. As Blue Jersey
had the only rear red blinker, he can rightly claim he was providing the
trio protection from being rear-ended as they mounted their tight-knit final
assault up Snyder Hill in the gathering gloom. I managed a distant fourth.

Also among those at the start at the top of Ringwood were Amanda
Shenstone, LiLynn Graves in formal pink jersey, Don Tenkate, and Milt Taam.
The launch down Midline in delightfully cool evening air was exhilarating
but orderly. Indeed, the paceline pace was tepid enough to prompt Anna, who
normally rides with the CU cycling team, to ask plaintively, "Does anyone do
attacks on the C ride?"

She and Blue Jersey then attacked going up that last little hill before
Midline hits Irish Settlement. Jason and I followed. Midway up the Ellis
Hollow Hill, I passed Jason and led going to the top. Anna then attacked
followed by Jason and they later blew right by the turn onto Hurd. (haha)
But Blue Jersey and I were close enough to call them back. Blue Jersey then
broke away and it was not until we approached Thomas Road on 79 that Jason,
Anna, and I working together were able to catch him.

Anna and Jason, thanks for introducing me to attacks. It sure does liven up
the pace! I can't wait for next spring. And thanks to LiLynn for coming up
with the now much-coveted Pink Sneaker. And thanks to Glenn for mentoring
the unruly weekly throng that gathers at East Hill Plaza. His
off-the-cuff comments on pink slipper night were...ah...a departure from his
usual "be good" homily.
