I spent a good bit of time mowing and working to smooth out parts of the
cyclocross (and ski) course over the weekend, but there is still a bunch of
work to be done. After people ride the course on Tuesday night they will
all have their own impressions of what needs to be done to make the course
smooth enough, dry enough, and safe enough for their tastes. The one major
task that will require a special volunteer is the annual job of spreading
wood chips over some wet, rocky, or rooty areas to make it less likely that
anyone falls or does damage to their bikes, bodies (or skis). In a couple
of places, chips will help the course to hold up under the race traffic,
especially if the weather doesn't cooperate. So......we need a volunteer
with a pick-up truck or a small trailer, so we can get free wood chips from
the town depot and bring them to the trails. Anyone ?
