My own favorite of the Finger Lakes Cycling Club's Sunday rides is
coming up this Sunday.
85+ miles of fun and scenic roads mapped by our eminent route-meister
Blaine Chamberlain.
Meets/leaves from the Marina parking lot at the lake end of Decatur
Street in Watkins Glen at 9AM.
Diner in Geneva at the half way point. Ice cream/sodas in Lodi to
speed you along the last 18 miles or so.
Beer in Watkins to celebrate the achievement. (The Italian-American
Festival is pretty much wound down by Sunday afternoon, so Lou and I
are planning to clean up and get food and fluid at the Roosterfish/
Wild Flower brew pub/café. Join us.)
There will probably be enough people on this ride that there will be
several groups, ranging from the brisk down through the slow end of
the the not so fast. Lou and I will be in the middle of the not so
fast, where we hope for lots of company. There is a good climb out
of Watkins, and a little stinker up the root beer floats in Lodi, but
other than that the topology is fairly mild.
There may be a faded arrow or two, but in case Blaine can't get out
and remark the route, bring a cue sheet, available at flcycling.org;
go to the Calendar and follow the links at 8/5 or just click on:
