FLCCers,
Have a great ride this Sunday around Cayuga Lake. Be sure to take
some of the smaller diversions off of the state Routes as you go
around the lake. The maps on the club website show some of these
diversions. In particular, the climb east out of Aurora on Ledyard
will take you up to Indian Fields / Salmon Creek which gives some
spectacular views as you turn south. This is not to be missed. Just
take a look at the club maps -- the cue sheet doesn't detail the
diversions but the maps do.
I look forward to re-joining the "moderates" or "not so fasts" or
"Adventure Cyclists" or "Sunday Bike Tourists" or whatever we call
ourselves in a couple of weeks after doing some out-of-town bike
adventures of my own.
Have fun riding.

>Just a reminder, this Sunday's ride will be around the long and
>lovely Cayuga Lake. There will be a fiesty moderate group so come
>on out. I have a 6 am flight tomorrow to Hell (a.k.a. The Family
>Reunion). So unfortunately I won't be there to detract from
>navigation and make sure no one has reflectors or other fashion faux
>pas. While ya'll are experimenting with the affects of wine tasting
>on bike handling skills, I will be perusing the pastry possibilities
>of northern Minnesota in one of the 472 towns north of Minneapolis
>which claims to be the true home of Paul Bunyan (assuming I can
>figure out how to put my bike back together now that its been
>dismembered and wrestled into a travel case). Just imagine- a whole
>week of riding endless backcountry roads with actual lake views
>and not a single hill! Still, I'm counting on ya'll to go ride,
>have fun, and write about it so I can be there vicariously. While
>you're at it come up with a name that rolls off the tongue better

>On to other news...Glenn and I will be hosting an on-the-bike clinic
>for newbies on Sunday Aug. 19 at 10 am, location TBA. We are doing
>it specifically for riders doing the AIDS Ride but everyone is
>welcome. We'll be teaching skills such as group riding, cornering,
>nutrition on the bike, climbing technique, etc. Please please RSVP.
>Topic requests are also welcome.

>And lastly, to Jack- thanks for making me laugh! I should hope you
>know the spot...enough said!
