The Skaneateles Lake ride is a natural for more leisurely riders since
the total distance is relatively short and there is a great place to
stop to R&R at the midway point. Although there has been relatively
little talk about it on the list, I'm told that each Sunday there has
been a mix of "slower" and "moderate" riders. So, whatever your riding
abilities or preferences, do plan to join us.Weather should be wonderful
tomorrow with temps in the low 70s.
The directions on the website (http://tinyurl.com/2c7ef4) are written
for a clockwise ride around the lake. This starts the ride with about 10
miles of (mostly) descent with great views of the lake and valley. The
return from Skaneateles starts with about 5 miles of flatish riding and
then turns to a series of climbs. Highly recommended is getting off the
main highway in Borodino (turn right on Nunnery Rd for a few miles, then
another right on Woodworth).
Please print out the detail map for the south end of the lake
(http://tinyurl.com/373mpq) -- there have been reports of folks getting
turned around and lost in this part of the route.
