Do you have an extra square taper crank that you no longer need?
My almost three year old daughter really wants to ride on the back of
our tandem (really, it's not just me who would like her to ride...). I
have all the pieces, except a crank
What exactly do we need: A square taper crank (preferably without
chainrings, but consider with) with either 130 or 110 BCD that has
enough material to cut additional pedal threads at 95mm and 125mm (so
anything that a) is not hollow, b) is beefy/thick enough up to at least
135mm from the bottom bracket, and c) has enough width to tap extra
pedal threads.
Most likely candidates would be late 1980s to mid/late 1990s MTB cranks
such as Shimano XT, LX or DX; or similar. But other cranks may be
suitable, too. Older style cranks (early 1980s? and older) tend not to
be wide enough.
Price negotiable depending on crank model and condition.
Cheers, Felix
