Hmmm, Alex's dominate the B's, gotta love it!
Yes, I was toast at the end but recovered enough to go Salsa dancing later. Not bad for not having raced or riden hard in the last few weeks. Peter B. led out early at the rise towards the end and I followed him and then followed Jason and then hit the afterburner. I was in the clear except at the very end where I was almost caught.
Sorry I missed the second race. All-in-all a great night.
Alex S.

What—no race reports? OK, here’s one from the Bs. We had a fairly small group since guys like Marco, Twinkie, Dave Heck, George, and Mr. Taam tried their luck with the As. Don F. was MIA. We were joined by the resurfacing Don Anderson and the promoted Jason Van Staveren (did I spell it right, Jason?). Not much going on on White Church, except Don A. took a little flier and I bridged to him, but we came back pretty quickly. On the final stretch to Coddington, Jason blew by everybody on the left. I knew he was trying to hammer up the Codd. Hill as far as he could in front of everybody before he got swallowed (he told me this strategy when we drove to Whitney Point together). Alex S. went with him, but they were caught before the top. After the climb, there was a lead group of about 6 that I managed to latch onto. Nobody really drove the bus though, and others caught back on. Got to work on that. At the finish, I was a victim of my chronic disease—no top end speed-and I watched the field go by. Alex S. won it, but the poor guy looked like it was touch-and-go whether he would survive, and he decided to bag the second race, as did Don.
The second race, which is often slower, was not this time, because those guys that went with the As the first race dropped back to the Bs. Again, not much on White Church. Twinkie claimed that I was getting ready to come across his wheel in the paceline and cause him serious bodily damage, but I was only trying to disrupt his signature kamikaze flyer move on White Church. It must have worked—he stayed with the field. had a little more trouble on Coddington hill this time and found myself with Marco and a little gap to make up to get back to the pack. Marco pulled me back to the pack and seemed quite spent after that. Surprising—He usually dominates on that hill. Must be that first A race was a killer! Anyhow, thanks Mark. My disease flared up again at the finish, and I watched from near the back as Mr. Taam (sorry, I’m never sure if its Alex or Max) lit a well-timed rocket to win the race.
Jack
