I think designating a few regrouping spots at the start of the ride is a good idea. As Marilyn said earlier in the week, we were only spread out by a couple of minutes. Three groups for the sunday ride should be enough to accomodate just about everyone (except for short and fast, long and in between fast and moderate, short and moderate, long and slow, long and unbelievably slow, long and unbelievably fast....). If someone wants to ride at a specific pace and not make adjustments to ride with the group, they should either ride alone or create their own group. Such is the nature of group riding (or group anything, for that matter :-) I think the expectations of the rides are clear. If they weren't before, Steven clarified them eloquently in the last digest. When I lead the ride, I will continue to stay with the people in the back most of the time and also teach skills as needed, as I did last week. We had a dozen riders and everyone I talked to or who emailed me
after seemed to be happy with the pace and felt encouraged/inspired. We now have a venue for supporting new and recreational riders. It will take time to fully establish, but we seem to have broken the ice. Thank you to Steven for checking out the course and leading the ride this week.
  happy riding! -H
