Hey, all.
As Twinkie's quasi-official, more-or-less organized, substitute event
coordinator on race day, I just wanted to say THANKS to everyone who helped
make the ESSG cycling events a success. There are a lot of you!
Thanks to:
Glenn, of course, who helped out all day with just about everything.
Dave Heck, who dealt with the computer, tracked the results, calmly fixed
glitches in Twinkie's spreadsheets, and accommodated the few protests we
received.
Sara Barker, who helped out with registration and finish line duties.
Andrejs Ozolins, who helped with the the TT starts and then marshalled a
corner during the RR.
Hobit Lafaye (and Jacob), who marshalled corners during both TTs and
collected cones and signs after.
Ernie Bayles, who posted cones and signs and marshalled corners and
generally organized things "on the road."
Bill Erickson, who showed up and pitched in during registration and
marshalled corners.
Wayne Gottlieb, who helped at the RR finish line.
Peter Blenkiron, who marshalled a corner for the RR and brought his folks,
Gary and Evelyn, along to help out too!
More RR corner marshals: Casey Carlstrom, Vivian Hoffman, Arlene Dean, Shan
Mohiuddin, Rahn Pitzer.
If you were there and I've missed you in this list, my apologies!
(I have to say no thanks at all to Don Fitterer, who by rights should have
been doing podium-babe duty himself to make up for all the abuse he dished
out! Hah!)
I also want to acknowledge the support for the ESSG cycling events we
received from the local community. Thanks to:
Greek Peak, for letting us use the facilities, and thanks to George, in
particular, for giving up what turned out to be a lot more of his Saturday
than he'd planned on to help us out.
TLC ambulance service, who were on site all day, "just in case."
Virgil Volunteer Fire Department, who helped with traffic control at
critical corners all day.
All in all, the events went extremely well, and that would not have
happened without all of you! Participants gave lots of positive feedback,
and I'd say we can all be proud of ourselves if the most common complaint
from participants was that we lacked cream for the coffee...
Thanks again, everyone!
