Nice report, Dave.
There were groans from the twink, but they came on Hurd Road, not
Ringwood. I believe I heard him say "#%$^@ cramp!" You guys spit me
out on Hurd, but you were soooo close when I came over the top. Twinkie
must have rallied--he and another dave caught me on Midline. With the
help of some monster pulls by Mark and me pulling through when I could,
the three of us caught the lead group at Ellis Hollow. However, Mark
flamed out from that effort (thanks, mark) and told me he wasn't going
up Ringwood. Dave stuck with the front on Ellis Hollow but I didn't,
but the pack was in sight most o the way up ringwood. I saw Dave come
off and hoped to catch him, but nothing doing!
Jack

The move of Don to the A's may have been a welcome sight for some,
but for me it meant not knowing which wheel to follow up Ringwood.
Also, not having an entertaining race report.
Anyway, about 17 B riders rode rather conservatively down Midline.
Even Mark Rishniw didn't seem interested in pushing the pace. It was a
moderate pace up Hurd with 11 cresting the top together. I think people
were saving themselves for the impending climbs ahead.
This group stayed together back down Midline with a couple
half-hearted attacks up Ellis Hollow Creek Rd. The bottom part of
Ringwood was rather uneventful until Shan Mouhiddin picked up the tempo.
This lead to a stringing out of the field and audible groans from
Twinkie.
As Shan tired, Mark Shenstone attacked, taking Garrett Graham (summer
temp. from Ashville, NC) with him. Felix and Dave H. couldn't keep pace
and were about 40 meters back as the other two topped Ringwood. Felix
and Dave worked together to catch Mark half-way to the Mt. Pleasant
turn. Mark's fatigued legs, both from the Owasco race and Monday's polo
match, kept him from latching on. The two caught Garrett 100m onto Mt.
Pleasant. These 3 crested the penultimate hill together and tore down
the other side. Dave's legs gave out half-way up the final climb.
Felix and Garrett were neck and neck to the finish, with Felix taking
the win and Garrett 2nd, Dave 3rd and Mark 4th (I think). I'm not sure
who came in 5th.
The heat didn't bother me much until Ringwood. Overall, a good race
and good workout.
