Folks,
Sunday's ride promises stunning views and a beautiful descent in the
picturesque Newfield area. It may be a new region for some of the
leisurely riders, so it's well worth a shot - bring your camera?
There is a wee price to pay for the views and descent: Andrejs warns
that "this is a ride with a huge climb at the very start (starting, as
never before, at the center of Newfield). I think it's quite doable for
any of the leisurely group, though they might not think so."
Thursday Nighters should be more than capable of enjoying this ride, as
long as we remember to "go slow, spin fast, stop at intervals to look at
the stunning views that just get better as you go." Getting the long
climb over with at the start on what promises to be a mild, partially
sunny day will make it all the more enjoyable. And, it may not be quite
as challenging as Victor's (in)famous trek down to lower Taughannock &
back up the other Thursday?
Some folks on yesterday's ride thought 9:30am would be a good start
time, so here's the logistics:
START: 9:30am
LOCATION: Newfield Covered Bridge
- Take Rte 13 from Ithaca towards Elmira/Corning, turn left at any of
the several "Covered Bridge" signs in to Newfield, about 8 miles from
Ithaca. It looks like this:

ROUTE: We'll follow Andrejs' suggested route on the FLCC calendar:

Hope to see you there!
