Katherine,
Donal Fitterer here. Have you looked at the rides on our website,
www.FLcycling.org <http://www.flcycling.org/> ? There are a list of our
rides and routes, as well as photos. I am not sure what exactly you want
as far as text goes. I have done most of the rides and can answer
questions. Unfortunately, there are few photos of scenery.
Here are my picks based upon your categories:
Scenic
Skaneateles Lake
http://www.flcycling.org/flcc/touring/rides/cuesheet/skanlake.htm The
east side of the lake has some spectacular views.
Historic
Cayuga Lake
http://www.flcycling.org/flcc/touring/rides/cuesheet/cayuga.htm. I
picked this one because you get to see the entire lake and get a feeling
for the various villages and towns. It is one of the oldest Finger Lakes
Cycling club rides.
Challenging
Terrible Hills Involving the Letter B
http://www.flcycling.org/flcc/touring/rides/cuesheet/terrible.htm
Only a handful of people has completed this ride.
Hopefully some people will disagree with me!
Cheers,
Donal

Greetings, Finger Lakes Cyclers,
I tried twice to connect with Dave Ruppert at Cornell about an article
I've been assigned to write (Please see text of email below that
describes it) with no success.
If any of you or other FLCC members would like to talk about their "best
rides in CNY" , please contact me by email or by telephone before March
5/6. Include how long you've cycled, what your preferences are
(off-road v. touring v. time trial) and what makes any given ride "the
best". I'd really like to have specific FL area input.
Thank you.

Hello, Mr. Ruppert,
My name is Katherine Karlson, and I'm a freelance writer from Binghamton
who is doing an article for the Central New York magazine (published by
the Bing. Press & Sun-Bulletin, but distributed in
Utica-Ithaca-Elmira-Binghamton markets) for its summer issue, about the
Best Bike Rides in CNY.
I'd like to get your input on the best bike rides in your area of the
Finger Lakes. They can be road/off-road, but I'm looking for a mixture,
of distances/difficulties as well as of terrain. Do you have any that
are particulary scenic/historic/challenging?
I'm working on this article in the next three weeks. Please give it
some thought and discussion with your fellow FLCC mmbers and get back
to me by March 9. Please include correct spellings of names and how
long you or the others have been bike riders and what you prefer.
Also, do you or they have any photos of these same rides from last year
you might be able to supply for the article? It's a little tough to get
cycle art right about now.
Thank you very much. Feel free to call me at 607-669-4653 if you have
any questions. I appreciate your help.
