I guess many people are gone for Cornell spring break, and others are
really ready to trade their winter toys for warm weather gear, because the
number of positive responses for one last Wednesday night outing was very
light. Mother Nature has perhaps cast the biggest vote, as the winds were
howling when I left to ride in to work this morning and the forecast is for
more of the same with winds out of the west and northwest. If I spend time
outdoors using mechanical devices it will probably be with the snowblower
looking for my driveway (If you think that's a joke, I welcome you to
inspect the snowbanks and drifts...) rather than laying tracks which will
disappear beneath blowing snow shortly after being pressed
in. So.......people are certainly welcome to come up and ski, and I might
even be persuaded to join you if you do, but I strongly suspect that it
would be a relative waste of time and non-renewable resources to groom the
tracks with wind followed by warm rains, in the forecast.
