FLCC> Black Flies Early June - Problem or No ?

Greetings,
   
  My wife and I will be in Ithaca for a concert the first week of June and hope to add some road and mountain biking to the mix.  I know black flies can be a concern at many places in the region, so I was wondering if they would preclude or limit any road or mountain biking during that time frame.
   
  Realizing the answer is somewhat dependent on how the spring weather plays out....
