Hi FLCC,
It's that time of year again! The Hollenbeck Spring Classic Road Race is
happening on Sunday, May 6. I am starting my search for volunteers so
please email me your availability and desired job if interested. It's
imperative that we get as much help as possible this year as I am actually
going to be in South America for work on race day. I will be organizing the
race as usual, but will be handing the reins to Mark Rishniw and Glenn Swan
on race day in my place.
The club is throwing a dinner for all volunteers on Sunday, April 29 where
I will explain the duties of each group before I leave. I'm also going to
assign a leader to each group who is an experienced volunteer. My hope is
this person will be responsible for answering questions and getting people
into their proper places on race day.
The different groups are as follows:
-Registration (10 people including leader)
-Chief Volunteer (Hopefully Marcia Swan as usual??)
-Computer Operators (Mark R will be one, but he needs an assistant)
-Corner Marshals (a sorority is helping with most positions, but I need 3-4
others including a leader with past experience)
-Pace Cars/Wheel vans (14 people including leader)
-Sign set-up and tear down (2 people)
-Finish line recorders (6-8 people including leader)
-Results driver -- from finish to computer and back (1 person)
-Video for the finish (1 person)
-Food and Drink
Organized sweep of the course will likely happen close to race day, details
to follow.
I hope to hear from all past volunteers who have graciously given so much
of their time over the years. We really can't do this race without you!
Also please talk to your friends and relatives and see if they would like
to come watch an exciting event, plus help a local club for a few hours on
what promises to be a beautiful Sunday morning.
Please email me with your desired position from the list above and spread
the word (announcement below) to other listserves throughout NY.
Thanks for volunteering!
