FLCC> Why we wear helmets!!!

Yesterday morning I rode from Cortland, on a loop through Lansing to Genoa.
I then wanted to take Route 90 back to Homer. Everything was going well
until going about 30 mph on Tupper Road in Lansing, a large black lab ran
out of a bush and took my front wheel out. I flew over my handlebars and
landed on my head and back. My helmet took a few chips and the weight of my
fall broke my hand pump. My neck and back are now extremely sore. My head
took a heavy hit, but the helmet held up. I couldn't imagine the damage
without the helmet. In all, however, I think the dog might have got the
worst of the ordeal. The tip of his nose was taken off in my spokes.
After, making sure he was alright, and I was able to still feel everything,
I talked to the owners. I explained to them, as politely as I could, that
if it were worse, they would be liable for damages. They understood and
were apologetic. They offered assistance, but I had a friend living about 5
miles away, and she drove me back to Cortland.

Just a reminder to everyone, that they should always wear there helmets.
Its not worth the risk. All I know is that without it, I would at least
have stitches, if not a concussion.

Joe
