Public hearings on the Black Diamond Trail -- Dec 5 & 6* Do you guys want
more trails? Yes of course! So … go to the meetings and spread the word!
Details, Details and web links etc:
http://canaaninstitute.org/bikeski/viewtopic.php?p=644#644 AND there is a
nice poster here: http://canaaninstitute.org/BlackDiamond_071128.pdf *PLEASE
print and post* it at your work place! Forward this info to your outdoor
friends, before it is too late! :-)
*WHAT IS THE BLACK DIAMOND TRAIL?* A walking/biking trail about 15 miles
long, connecting Taughannock Falls State Park, the Treman Marina, Cass Park,
Buttermilk Falls State Park, and Robert H. Treman State Park. It will also
connect to other trails and paths, including the Waterfront Trail. When
complete, it will be a safe way to travel among the major local parks and to
many other destinations around Ithaca.
*WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?* Don't assume there is no opposition to the trail.
If supporters don't turn out in large numbers, we risk having the trail put
back on hold (it was first proposed 30 years ago!). Similar trail projects
have been crushed by opponents [often "not in my back yard" land owners
-ed.]. Supporters must attend these hearings in great numbers to make sure
the Black Diamond Trail project moves forward.
