FLCCers,
Saturday 9:00 am threre will be another day of work on the Black
Diamond Trail -- widening the trail, clearing brush, cutting back trees,
etc. This is done in hopeful anticipation of the State getting around to
do final clearing and paving of a multi-use trail from Ithaca's Cass
Park all the way to Taughannock State Park in Trumansburg.
The work will be on Willow Creek Rd just north of Agard. From Ithaca,
take NY 89 north about 7 miles from Ithaca. Turn left on Agard up the
hill to Willow Creek. Turn right and find the trail crossing about a
tenth of a mile north.
Volunteers are needed for this work not only to get the clearing done
but also to demonstrate a level of interest on the part of the community
in getting the trail finished. It's not exactly a bicycling activity of
course; but it does pertain to wholesome outdoor activity and the trail
will in fact provide a great way for people to bike up West Hill without
dealing with the state highways.
Please come up to help out -- but even if you can't help, drop by to
have a look at the rudiments of the trail and say an encouraging word.
Bring your own hand tools if you like (no power tools).
More information about the trail work day as well about the trail itself
is on the website, http://blackdiamondtrail.org/.
(Those on the Special Swandrome Training Program might find this
exercise a useful preparation for Sunday's treatment at the Mt Pleasant
facilityl)
