Last Sunday was the Syracuse Grand Prix cyclocross race. Results are

According to the organizers, attendance was a record for the event,
totaling 111 riders in all categories.

The course was fast and firm, with a few short mud sections. And, as
in previous years, the famous "sand hill" run-up was there.

The revelation of the race was Peter Ozolins, who put in a blazing
ride for second place. Jeremy Gardner edged out CNY Series leader
Matt Dickinson for 4th. Matt DeLisa showed a big fitness bump to
battle Andy Melnychenko for 8th. (I am told those two were savaging
each other on the run-up.)

In the Masters, Glenn was second after dueling with Chris Tirone
until late in the race. Ernie was 3rd, 2 minutes ahead of the next
rider. Rhino and Mark were close for a while, with Rhino pulling away.

I did the open men's event, and finished 18th of 56 starters. I got
lapped by the top 3 guys. Here are this week's lap times...

7:25
7:21
7:27
7:25
7:32
7:31
7:26
7:32

If you subtract my last lap time from my published finish time, you
get 52:25, which would put me tied for 7th in the Masters. Looks
like I may be able to get a few series points if I switch categories,
but I am enjoying the larger field, dig racing a full hour, and am
getting used to being lapped :).

Much thanks to organizer Jochen Woicke and his crew for putting on a
great event.

Oh... and the series standings have been updated at ...
