If I didn't know better I would think that FLCC/Chris's Cookies was some
big, well supported racing team. Overall GC victories in two categories
(Pro 1-2 and Masters) and Sprint Champion (in Masters). I don't think any
other team had as many results to show for their efforts. It may take some
of us a little while to have the time to write up the stories of 4 stages
of racing, but I think it'll be pretty good reading.
Trevor Connor won the two road stages in dramatic and convincing
performances and held up through some serious abuse in the final criterium
to win the Pro classification. Ernie Bayles wielded a certain surgical
precision in dominating (only as much as he needed to...) the Hot Spots
Sprint competition in the Masters. I was not particularly thrilled with my
riding through most of the first three stages, but when I realized that I
was still conceivably within striking distance of the lead going into the
criterium (which I LOVE), I tried to put on a good show and gathered the
points I needed to capture the winner's jersey. It came down to a wild ride
into the the final turn and a sprint to the line to determine who would win
the General Classification.
So stay tuned as the protagonists (and amateuragonists?) prepare to tell
their stories.
Glenn
