Was it just me, or did we go pretty fast last night ?! There are a few
new (and some returning) faces that drove some pretty fast buses,
especially at the beginning. Wow ! I guess some people rode their bikes a
lot over the summer.

It was getting dark enough for cars to have their headlights on at 7:30 as
we were returning to EHP. This means that it must be time for the final
Tuesday night race of the season - the Race For The Pink Slipper !!!!!!!!!
(and assorted other famous footwear) Next Tuesday should be the big race.
We'll tell the full history of the famous footwear on race night, but it is
known that the race is considered so important by some in the cycling
world, that it is listed among the palmares of some professional riders. It
ranks right up there with the yellow t-shirt of the Tour in France and the
Pink (ugh!) one in Italy.
It is rumored that Danny Timmerman has convinced his Kodak/Sierra Nevada
pro team to opt out of the Tour of Missouri in order to support his bid to
win a record 3rd in a row. Lance never won the pink slipper, let alone a
three-peat. Trevor Connor is said to be considering delaying his return to
British Columbia while he weighs his chances of cashing in on the pink gem.
Ernie Bayles, fired up by his recent Tuesday night win has already prepared
a place on his mantel, considering the sprint jersey at Green Mountains
Stage Race to be a mere tune-up for the big event. I know that the reason
we haven't seen much of Twinkie in the A's this summer is that he figures
anonymity will give him an edge, as the obvious favorites fight each other,
leaving him to mop it up. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to note that his
frequent absences seem to be related to time spent in the lab working on
some "chemical cocktail" that he claims is "undetectable by current drug
tests". We know how those Aussies pronounce "Vitamins". We just don't know
exactly what's in them....
