Hi All,

 

I started advising the Human Powered Vehicle team here at Rose-Hulman this year (yes, it is a horrible acronym).  There's enough 'bent riders back home (yes, that is how I think of Ithaca) that I thought you might be interested in our most recent successes.  I'd love to see what Paul Monkman could do on the Coddington TT in our bike.  Maybe we'll run it out to Danny if he competes in the Tour of Missouri again this year.  ;-)

 

Hope all is well back there, and hopefully we'll see several of you this summer.

It is my pleasure to inform you that the Rose-Hulman Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) Team has returned victorious from the ASME East HPV competition this past weekend in Madison, WI.  This comes only one week after their first place showing at the ASME West competition in Reno, NV.  Our little school in Terre Haute, IN now has the distinction of being the undisputed national champion in ASME's HPV competition.

 

The results are (of 25 competing schools):

 

Men's sprint:  1st place

Women's sprint:  2nd place

Endurance:  2nd place

Design report:  3rd place

 

Overall:  1st place

 

Although it is perhaps the least significant looking of all their awards, I am most proud to report that the team also received the Judge's Sportsmanship award for helping other teams (that they were competing against) with mechanical difficulties.

 

Please extend your congratulations to the entire HPV team.  I consider them one of the many treasures of the Rose-Hulman community.
