I was about to suggest that you guys take up skiing, but after Osceola
yesterday, I'm not sure how much saner that is. We stopped there
yesterday on our way home from booneville and got there in the middle of
a horizontal snowstorm. The temperature was nosediving and I have no
clue what the wind chill factor was. Joan smartly stayed on the most
protected trail and I went off on a loop to find the Luban men who I
knew were out there somewhere. On the downhills, I could only stay on
the trail by following the little dark blob that was Adam. Adam told me
he was locked onto the red blob, Eddy. I'm not sure what was keeping
Eddy on the trail. The loop finishes with a steep downhill to an open
field near the lodge. The wind was right at us. As Adam went down this
normally screaming hill in front of me, the wind pretty much stood him
up straight and stopped him. As we left Osceola, I nearly put us into
the ditch during a whiteout. Instead, the 5' snowbank got in the way.

Seemed like normal conditions for an Old Fogey Tour. I didn't mind the
frozen shut eye as much as the ice cube against my temple. It felt like
an ice cycle stabbing into my sinus cavity. Marko looked awesome with
the white eyebrows protruding 6" above his glasses. On the plus side the
snow gave us plenty of traction!

Careful there about what you imply Jack...there are other club members
who
happened to be out for rides yesterday when the meteorillogical event
occurred. Ask Fitterer about how much fun it is to ride with such wind
driven snow that it packed in behind the right lens of his glasses
freezing
his eye shut. Don't ask me why I know that he wasn't exaggerating about
that. Suffice it to say that the Fitterer's new puppy still has both of
its
(human) parents to keep it warm and cuddle. Mark Shenstone would not be
a
reliable witness to any of the aforementioned events because he says he
never saw a thing...
