FLCC> coddington Road loses country charm?

A time-trialling super-highway!!!!
Interesting to read reason #4 for keeping the road to 28 feet:

"People live and bicycle in the Coddington Neighborhood for its rural
charm. Many of the homes here are historic. Ask cyclists why they
don't prefer riding on Route 96B where the shoulders are six feet
wide... because the traffic is too fast, they feel less safe, and it
has no charm. The wider the road, the greater the impact on the
natural environment, too, as trees and habitat are destroyed, and
toxic stormwater runoff is increased. "

Given this expressed concern about cycling, it is interesting to see
how many incidences occur during the TT season because of a lack of
good shoulder to ride on. If there were a 3' wide paved shoulder,
I'm sure that we would have many fewer altercations with the
Willseyville pickup mafia...

Supersized Twinkie.
