Peter,
My limited understanding is the plan essentially turn Coddington into a
Rt 79/96/96B style road which will increase traffic and road speed (even
though the posted speed limit is to remain the same).
The shoulder can be still be improved without making the road straighter
and smoother.

This is a tricky subject and I think at the end a bigger road is better
for safety of every one especially cyclists. I'd hate to see this turn
into one of those Ithaca brand conservative situations wherein every one
really loses out like the bottom of Cliff st. or Mitchell St bbelow Bell
Sherman. Of course, on the other hand it would be sad to lose all those
little dips and curves and shade trees that characterize riding on
Coddington...
Why does everything have to be a choice between evils?
