I just looked at my calendar and realized that this is the final week of
February and the first weekend of March is less than a week away !!! The
riding we did this weekend was rather cold and there were snow-covered
stretches of road even at the lower elevations, so the notion that March is
coming with the increasing possibility of more spring-like conditions, is
pretty exciting.
March means Sunday morning cycling seminars ! The first seminar will be
March 2 at 10:00AM in the lounge (room 128) of Olin Hall Chemical
Engineering on the Cornell campus. This building is across Ho Plaza from
the Gannett Health Center, across the street from Carpenter Library, and
kitty-corner from Anabel Taylor Hall. (Same location we've used for the
last several years.)
Topic for the first seminar is Bike Fit. We'll look at how bikes are
sized, and the variables that affect comfort and efficiency. We'll see how
different riding styles require different adjustments, and when we are done
you'll know how to analyze your own position and how to help your riding
partners get dialed in as well.
We'll probably take a little time for a fashion show of functional
clothing and accessories to help keep you comfortable during the
challenging conditions that we often experience during early season riding.
Seminars are free and open to anyone with an interest in the sport. Spread
the word ! Refreshments will be provided thanks to a grant from a "seminar
alumnus", Andrew Chadeayne.
