Todd,

I've been trying to go Mtn biking with Mike and his workmate Rob for
years but they never have time for me. If you do get them to commit to a
ride please let know so I can tag along. I'll do my best to keep up.

Cheers,

Don (aka Mr. Chubbs)

Todd,

You could also check out cycle-cny.com for mtb rides. I also believe
the site has maps for some of the local trails.

Todd,

Sorry for not replying sooner, but I assumed that others who are more
knowledgeable on the mountain bike scene than I would have followed
up. Or maybe they did, but did not copy the list. In any event, there
have recently been a few posts about how unresponsive some clubs are to
visiting riders and figured that if the FLCC doesn't want to be lumped
in with "some clubs", someone ought to get back to you.

The FLCC has riders of all abilities and interests. On the website, you

will find the weekend tour schedule, some information about regular
rides during the week, and special events. You will probably note that
there is not much in the way of organized mountain bike activities. Do
not despair, there are lots of MTB riders and rides, you just have to
find them. In the summer, the Bike Rack bicycle shop has typically
organized MTB rides on a weekend morning, and once things have dried out

a bit, Swan Cycles has regular Monday after work rides (and hikes and
snowshoes too at this time of year) on his property on Mount Pleasant
(all highly recommended for the newcomer). There, you will at least
meet some other folk of like mind.

Lots of roadies, like myself, will pull out the knobbies from time to
time for a change of pace, but these rides are very loosly organized and

you really have to be plugged into whole riding scene (by doing the
sunday tours, the tuesday night races, the time trials, helping with
the races, etc.) to get onto someone's phone list. Of course, you can
always just post a note to the list saying when and where and what you
want to do and see how many show up. In this cycling community you
never need ride alone.

So welcome to the Ithaca bicycling scene. There's a great cycling
community here and with a little effort you will quickly become a part
of it.
