Another report here...from today's circuit race.

I only saw a portion of the cat3 race, but Cameron and Steve both got pack
finishes to maintain their positions on GC. (Granted, Steve's position
isn't anything to envy after his flat in yesterday's stage.) Cameron now
maintains a 21 second lead over 4th place.

In the cat2's, Don and I both got pack finishes to maintain our top 20
placings. In fact, two riders must have either been dropped or suffered
mechanicals since we both moved up two spots to take 16th (Don) and 18th
(me). Our average speed over 50 miles was 27.7mph. (The pros averaged
29.12mph for 75 miles!) Don was particularly active, getting into an
early break and later making some moves on the last lap. Unfortunately,
he didn't get a lot of help in the breaks and they all came back. I got
into a small separation that was quickly reeled in, since it contained the
race leader. As we came to the final finish hill, I saw that the field
was together and chose to remove myself from any of the finishing ruckus.

As gleaned from the results, Andy got 15th in the Masters- a race won by
former US Champ Mark McCormack. So yeah, tough field.

Crit tomorrow, where the GC positions can be solidified. Then we can
party and forget about our bikes for a few days/weeks/months(?)

Brian
