The first Sunday Cycling Seminar was well attended, with 20+ people
showing up for discussions and demonstrations of bike fit.
Next week, Sunday, Mar. 9 the Topic will be Group Riding Skills, with
emphasis on riding pace lines, and attention to some pack-racing skills as
well. As with the Bike Fit topic, the seminar should be appropriate for
riders of all interests and ability levels, because whether you are doing
Tuesday night races, or Sunday Tours, or the Aids Ride or a triathlon, you
will be riding with other people, and proper skills and knowledge will make
you safer and more efficient.
If the weather is favorable, some of us will go to the big parking lot at
the Vet School after the seminar and practice what we have learned and
also work on some bike handling skills and drills.
Sunday Mar. 16 we will be talking about training, nutrition and physiology
and we will enjoy perspectives on these things from within the pro peloton,
with guest speaker Trevor Connor. Trevor rode for the La-Z Boy pro team
last season and won the prestigious Green Mountains Stage Race. He is
currently coaching at the Canadian version of the Olympic Training Center,
so he will be able to share perspectives both as a racer and as a coach of
elite athletes.
