I can't make this cyclovia (daughters graduation,
hurray!!), but I want to encourage everyone who takes
part to be sensitive to motor traffic.  I don't think
it make sense to hold up traffic.  Besides, if we ride
single file, our line of bikes will be longer and more
impressive.   Just a suggestion.  Wayne

Connect Ithaca, a group committed to
promotingprinciples ofecological city design in the
Ithaca area, is launching CycloviaSaturdays. Wewill
organize bicycle rides from Downtown to the Ithaca
Farmer’s MarketeverySaturday, providing an enjoyable
and safe biking experience for peopleof allages.

 

Cyclovia, or bicycle days, originated in
Bogota,Columbia in1976 and now hosts popular more than
two million bicyclers every Sundayandholiday enjoying
festivities along bicycle streets. Ithaca’s
CycloviaSaturdayswill link Downtown Ithaca to the
Farmer’s Market. The first CycloviaSaturdaywill take
place on May 31 beginning at De Witt Park at 10:00
AM,followingCayuga Street to Tompkins, turning left to
Third Street, and thencontinuing tothe Farmer’s
Market. There will be a designated bicycle parking
areaforCyclovia participants.
